In 2006, I was commissioned by the sisters of the Religious of Jesus and Mary, Pune Provence to document their work in the province. This included city schools, slums, special education for children with mental imparement and work in missions in rural Maharashtra. Besides their work, I also spent some time at the Provincial House documenting the lives of the nuns. Here I witnessed how the glue that binds their work is their love of Jesus, Mary and their founder St Claudine Thevenet. I realise this belief in something larger than oneself can give the strength and motivation to work wonders in the world.
